Osnabrück Peace Ham

Osnabrück Peace Ham

 Osnabrück Peace Ham

We sold 79,665 Osnabrücker Friedensschinken ("Osnabrück peace hams") last year. One Euro is donated to Terre des Hommes for each ham sold.
On Wednesday 25 May 2011, the cheque was handed over to Barbara Schöneberger, the ambassador for the children's aid organisation, at the town hall in Osnabrück.

This takes the total amount donated to Terre des Hommes in the 9-year history of the "Osnabrücker Friedensschinken" to more than EUR 545,800. This money has helped several thousand children to receive an education, initially in the "Osire Camp" refugee camp and currently at the "Bedford School" in Menogue. Without this basic education and vocational training, the children would end up on the streets.
In April 2011, the spokesperson for Terre des Hommes in Africa, Claudia Berker, visited two out of the three projects we support.[Account of her journey]

Bedford painting competition and Terre des Hommes in Osnabrück and Angola

Osnabrück, 2 September 2011 – The first painting competition, which was organised by Bedford alongside the children's aid organisation, Terre des Hommes, throughout primary schools in Osnabrück, was a great success. More than 100 young artists took part by drawing pictures of what they understand by the motto "Peace is....". The really special thing about this competition was that, in addition to children from the Altstädter, Backhaus and Johannis schools in Osnabrück, more than 40 primary school children from the Bedford School in Angola also took part. A jury of four (including Terre des Hommes ambassador Barbara Schöneberger) chose their favourite peace pictures from Osnabrück and Angola, which were on display at a prize-giving ceremony.
The twelve best pictures featured on a calendar, which Bedford produced together with Terre des Hommes for 2012. The school in Angola will benefit from the profits from the sale of the calendars.
